Ellis Memorial was big with helping me be the person I am today. I remember Mr. Turek, Nick, Jerry Atkinson, Jon Kennedy, George McConnon, these are all the people who helped me through my childhood. I looked forward every year to my 3 weeks of Camp Guild. Thanks Ellis memorial for helping inner city kids stay out of trouble.

I remember when I first got to Boston. I was five years old and we had nothing and somehow my mom got me and my younger sister (Blanche) into the Ellis Memorial club to keep us off the streets. My older brother did not and got in trouble with the law and had many set backs in life because of it.My mom payed for me and my sister to go to summer camp in camp Wadsworth in Sharon Mass. We went to Camp Guild in New Hampshire. I would love to hear from some of my old friends if possible. Thank You.

Ellis Memorial was selected as host organization for me by Japan Women's Leadership Initiative, a 5-week training program co-organized by Simmons College. Mentoring by leaders and staffs in this organization was something special. Their strong mission and passion to the community had struck on me. They work with tender loving care to each client in detail-oriented manner. Working with them was really empowering and re-energizing experience for me. It was my pleasure to take a part of Ellis Memorial, and have a lot of unforgettable souvenirs to Japan which will enrich Japanese community also.

I attended the Ellis Memorial after-school programs for youth during the late '60s to early '70s. These programs included arts & crafts and woodworking shop, as well as phys-ed activities. These programs helped poor inner city kids develop skills and relationships that remain with me today. My favorite memories are the 3 weeks of summer spent at Camp Guild in Hancock, NH, sponsored by the Ellis Memorial. Days spent canoeing, swimming in Norway Pond, playing softball, archery, Capture the Flag, overnight camping with just a sleeping bag at "The Point", Thursday nite Candy shoppe, and Campfires at the Amphitheater - GREAT MEMORIES!

I joined Ellis Kindergarten program as teacher in Jan 1989 and later became lead teacher in the same program.I continued in that position till I returned to India in August 1993. I had the pleasure of working with some wonderful people like Susan Donague,Maria,Michelle,Laura Hines,Jennifer Wilkinson,Alyson Shifres,Reme etc all under the able guidance of Sylvia and Executive Director Leo Delaney. I was delighted to discover the Ellis site on the net and thought I should communicate in some way for old times' sake! I read all about the new programs developments which are numerous but wonderful.I was glad to see Ellis making so much progress. Wish everyone all the best for the future Vinita
