Program Overview
As a childcare center, Ellis believes that parents are the most important people in their children’s lives. We also believe that one of the most effective and long lasting ways to support children is to support their parents. This can mean anything from making sure a family can meet their basic needs for food and shelter, to addressing worrisome behaviors, discipline issues, divorce, parental stress, illness or death in the family or other family issues.

Any child or family at Ellis is eligible to receive support services. Support services is here to help children who are having trouble functioning in the program, to help parents who are confused, stressed or in trouble, and to help teachers who are trying to support needy and challenging children.

We provide advocacy, referrals, emotional support, counseling, information, training and other resources to children and families who need extra support. A teacher or parent can refer a family for our services.

We also work with children and families referred by the Department of Social Services (DSS). DSS owns 18 slots in our childcare programs. We act as an advocate and a liaison between the family, Ellis Programs and DSS. We try to make sure that families are getting all the help that they need, that everyone is communicating well, and that there is a transition plan in place for the child when the DSS case closes.
